Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the Church’s official ritual text which guides the way in which unbaptized adults, and children who have attained the age of reason are initiated into the Catholic Faith. It directs, supports, and sustains the way of faith and conversion of these individuals as they discern the call to discipleship as members of the Body of Christ. This process is both a matter of intellectual assent to the teachings of the Church and an incorporation into a living faith community visibly represented by the local parish. The catechumenate aims to help the participants cultivate the practice of prayer, doing good works, and active participation in the life and mission of the Church as they are exercised within the local parish community.
We have three RCIA programs running concurrently from May to Easter every year. Adult English RCIA program is taught by Deacon John Maulucci; its Spanish equivalent is taught by Deacon Jose Ojeda, while the Children & Youth RCIA is under the Parish Religious Education Program and is taught by Maria Perez. All interested candidates are encouraged to register at least nine months before the following Easter. However, new candidates are accepted at any time of the year. Interested candidates should call the parish office to register.
